Usage

Description

Lanthanum strontium cobalt oxide, also known as LSC-82, is a promising cathode material for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) with a perovskite-type structure. It has the unique ability to reduce itself reversibly at moderate partial pressures of oxygen, producing large numbers of oxygen ion vacancies. These vacancies facilitate the transport of oxygen ions and cause oxygen surface exchange, while also raising mechanical stress due to lattice volume expansion. The influence of temperature on the properties of LSC-82 has been extensively studied, including its effect on magnetic susceptibility.

Uses

Used in Energy Industry:
Lanthanum strontium cobalt oxide is used as a cathode material for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) due to its high performance when paired with doped ceria electrolytes, as compared to yttria stabilized zirconia electrolytes.
