By nucleophilic substitution at tetravalent silicon the η1-pentamethylcyclopentdienyl-substituted compounds Me5C5SiX3 and Me5C5Si(R)Cl2 are prepared.Using the same principle, also the bis-η1-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl-substituted compounds (Me5C5)2SiHX and the fluoro compound (Me5C5)2SiF2 (15) are synthesized. The dihalogenosilanes (Me5C5)2SiCl2 (16) and (Me5C5)2SiBr2 (17) are not accessible on the direct route by reaction of the tetrahalogenosilanes with pentamethylcyclopentadienyl-transfer agents. They are synthesized from the tetramethylcyclopentadienyl-substituted silanes (Me4HC5)2SiHal2 (18 and 19) by metallation and subsequent alkylation. The dynamic behaviour of 1-17 (based on sigmatropic rearrangements of the silyl group) is described qualitatively and in some cases also quantitatively on the basis of DNMR experiments and line-shape analyses. Some properties of the described compounds and the X-ray crystal structure data of 15 and 16 confirm the steric demand of the ?-bonded pentamethylcyclopentadienyl ligands.
