Description

(2-Bromo-ethoxy)-acetic acid, also known as Bromo-PEG1-CH2CO2H, is a PEG linker containing a bromide group with a terminal carboxylic acid. The terminal carboxylic acid can react with primary amine groups in the presence of activators (e.g. EDC, or HATU) to form a stable amide bond. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media. The bromide (Br) is a very good leaving group for nucleophilic substitution reactions.

Uses

Used in Bioconjugation:
(2-Bromo-ethoxy)-acetic acid is used as a bioconjugation agent for attaching biomolecules to other molecules or surfaces. The terminal carboxylic acid reacts with primary amine groups to form stable amide bonds, allowing for the covalent attachment of various biomolecules.
Used in Drug Delivery Systems:
(2-Bromo-ethoxy)-acetic acid is used as a component in drug delivery systems for improving the solubility and stability of therapeutic agents. The hydrophilic PEG spacer enhances the solubility of hydrophobic drugs in aqueous media, while the bromide group can be used for further functionalization or attachment of drug molecules.
Used in Organic Synthesis:
(2-Bromo-ethoxy)-acetic acid is used as a building block in organic synthesis for the preparation of various compounds. The bromide group serves as a good leaving group for nucleophilic substitution reactions, allowing for the synthesis of a wide range of organic compounds.
Used in Chemical Biology:
(2-Bromo-ethoxy)-acetic acid is used as a tool in chemical biology for the study of protein-protein interactions, enzyme activity, and other biological processes. The ability to form stable amide bonds with primary amine groups allows for the creation of conjugates that can be used to probe and modulate biological systems.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1135131-50-8 includes 10 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 7 digits, 1,1,3,5,1,3 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1135131-50:
(9*1)+(8*1)+(7*3)+(6*5)+(5*1)+(4*3)+(3*1)+(2*5)+(1*0)=98
98 % 10 = 8
So 1135131-50-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
