12070-13-2 Usage

Description

Tungsten carbide is a compound consisting of two carbides, W2C and WC, produced by heating powdered tungsten with carbon. These carbides are extremely hard, with a hardness approaching that of diamond, and are known for their high melting points (2770°C for WC and 2780°C for W2C), resistance to wear and tear, and resistance to chemical attack. Tungsten carbide is brittle in nature and can be prepared by heating tungsten and carbon in the presence of hydrogen at high temperatures.

Uses

Used in Industrial Machinery:
Tungsten carbide is used as a material for industrial machinery due to its incredible hardness and resistance to wear and tear, making it a preferred choice over stainless steel.
Used in Cutting Tools:
In the manufacturing industry, tungsten carbide is used as a material for cutting tools because of its extreme hardness and ability to maintain a sharp edge.
Used in Abrasives:
Due to its hardness, tungsten carbide is utilized as an abrasive material in various applications, such as grinding and milling processes.
Used in Armor-Piercing Rounds:
Tungsten carbide is employed in the production of armor-piercing rounds for its high density and penetration capabilities.
Used in Jewelry:
Tungsten carbide is used in the jewelry industry for making wear-resistant and scratch-resistant items, such as rings and other accessories.
Used in Mill Products:
Tungsten carbide is utilized in the manufacture of mill products, including grinding and milling equipment, due to its durability and resistance to wear.
Used in Tipping Trekking, Ski Poles, and Cleats:
Tungsten carbide is used as a material for tipping trekking, ski poles, and cleats because of its hardness and ability to withstand harsh conditions.
Used in Cemented Tungsten Carbide:
Tungsten carbide is mainly used in the form of cemented tungsten carbide, which is a composite material consisting of tungsten carbide particles bonded together by a metal binder, such as cobalt. This form enhances the material's properties and makes it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Used in Hard Metals:
Tungsten carbide is used in the production of hard metals, which are materials with high hardness and wear resistance, making them ideal for various industrial applications.
Used as a Sputtering Target:
Tungsten carbide, in its 99.5% pure form, is used as a sputtering target to produce wear-resistant films and semiconductor films, taking advantage of its high hardness and chemical stability.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 12070-13-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,2,0,7 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 12070-13:
(7*1)+(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*7)+(3*0)+(2*1)+(1*3)=52
52 % 10 = 2
So 12070-13-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
