Description
Solvent Red 1, also known as Sudan Red G, is a yellowish-red lysochrome azo dye belonging to the Sudan dyes group of organic compounds. It appears as an odorless reddish-orange powder with a melting point of 225°C. Solvent Red 1 is soluble in fats and is commonly used for coloring fats, oils, waxes, and various other materials. It is also stable up to temperatures of 100-110°C and was formerly used as a food dye.
Uses
Used in Oil, Wax, and Cultural and Educational Supplies Coloring:
Solvent Red 1 is used as a coloring agent for oils, waxes, and cultural and educational supplies due to its solubility in fats and its ability to provide a vibrant red to yellow-red-orange color.
Used in Environmental Testing:
Solvent Red 1 is utilized in environmental testing for the detection of dyes and their metabolites, which can be harmful to the environment.
Used in Temporary Tattoos:
Although it can cause contact dermatitis, Solvent Red 1 is used in some temporary tattoo applications due to its colorfast properties.
Used in Hair Dyes:
Solvent Red 1 is also employed as a component in hair dyes, contributing to the red coloration of the product.
Used in Red Smoke Signals and Smoke-screens:
Solvent Red 1, in combination with Disperse Red 11, is a component of newer formulas for red smoke signals and smoke-screens, providing the desired red color for these applications.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1229-55-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,2,2 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1229-55:
(6*1)+(5*2)+(4*2)+(3*9)+(2*5)+(1*5)=66
66 % 10 = 6
So 1229-55-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
