126463-99-8 Usage

Description

HUMAN MCP-1, also known as Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1/monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCP-1/MCAF) or C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2), is an inflammatory cytokine. It is a small protein that plays a crucial role in the immune response by attracting monocytes, memory T cells, and dendritic cells to the site of inflammation or injury. The CCL2 gene is located on human chromosome 17q12, and the protein is expressed in various cell types, including epithelial, endothelial, mesangial, and microglial cells. Structurally, HUMAN MCP-1 dimerizes and consists of four regions of the β-sheet. Recombinant human MCP-1 is an 8.6 kDa protein containing 76 amino acid residues, including four highly conserved cysteine residues. The MCP family exhibits cross-reactivity across different species.

Uses

Used in Neuronal Culture Applications:
HUMAN MCP-1 is used as a chemokine supplement in the alpha minimal essential medium for culturing neurons. This application aims to test its effect on JmjC histone demethylase (Jmjd2a) mRNA, which is crucial for understanding the role of MCP-1 in neuronal function and development.
Used in Cell Migration Assays:
In the field of cell biology, HUMAN MCP-1 is used as a positive chemoattractant control in HeLa cells for migration assays. This application helps researchers study the migratory behavior of cells and the underlying mechanisms involved in cell movement.
Used in Macrophage Chemotaxis:
HUMAN MCP-1 is employed as a chemoattractant to induce macrophage chemotaxis. This application is essential for investigating the role of MCP-1 in the recruitment and activation of macrophages during inflammation and immune responses.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1/monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCP-1/MCAF) acts as a human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) suppressor. The MCP-1 acts as a chemoattractant for T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. It also plays a key role in the migration and infiltration of macrophages. CCL2 shows under expression in high-grade ovarian serous carcinomas (HGOSCs) and is expressed less in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 126463-99-8 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,2,6,4,6 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 126463-99:
(8*1)+(7*2)+(6*6)+(5*4)+(4*6)+(3*3)+(2*9)+(1*9)=138
138 % 10 = 8
So 126463-99-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
