Usage

General Description

(1S)-2α,5α-(Epoxymethano)-1-hydroxymethyl-2-(2-hydroxyethyl)cyclopentan-1β-ol, also known as Clevudine, is a chemical compound belonging to the class of nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors. It is used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection. Clevudine works by inhibiting the replication of the hepatitis B virus, thus reducing the viral load in the body. It is administered orally and has been shown to be effective in suppressing the virus and improving liver function in patients with chronic hepatitis B. However, due to safety concerns and the availability of newer and more effective treatments, Clevudine is no longer widely used in the treatment of hepatitis B.
