128446-36-6 Usage
Description
Beta-Cyclodextrin methyl ethers, also known as Methyl-β-cyclodextrin, is a randomly methylated form of the cyclic oligosaccharide β-cyclodextrin. It is a small cyclic heptasaccharide containing seven D-(+)-glucopyranose units with randomized hydrogen or methyl groups. Methyl-β-cyclodextrin has been used to improve the aqueous solubility of various compounds and to extract cholesterol from lipid membranes. It is also known for its ability to reduce α-synuclein levels in the membrane and detergent-insoluble fractions from B103 neuroblastoma cells transfected with human α-synuclein, as well as in mouse brain in a transgenic model of α-synucleinopathy. Methyl-β-cyclodextrin is presented as a white powder.
Uses
1. Used as a substrate for laminarinase and other glucanases.
2. Used in Tissue and Cell Culture Applications:
Beta-Cyclodextrin methyl ethers is used as a complexing agent for increasing the solubility of non-polar substances such as fatty acids, lipids, vitamins, and cholesterol.
3. Used in Cholesterol Removal:
Methyl-β-cyclodextrin is used as a cholesterol-removing agent, mainly for lipid raft disruption.
4. Used in Detergent Removal:
Methyl-β-cyclodextrin is used as a detergent removal agent from protein-lipid-detergent ternary mixtures to produce 2D membrane protein crystals, due to its high solubility and affinity for detergents generally used in membrane protein chemistry.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Methyl-β-cyclodextrin participates in increasing the permeability of cells. It also plays a role in depolymerizing the actin cytoskeleton in cells. Methyl-β-cyclodextrin is involved in attracting cholesterol from the plasma. It participates in activating extracellular receptor kinase in certain cells.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 128446-36-6 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,2,8,4,4 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 128446-36:
(8*1)+(7*2)+(6*8)+(5*4)+(4*4)+(3*6)+(2*3)+(1*6)=136
136 % 10 = 6
So 128446-36-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
