Description

PLATELET ACTIVATING FACTOR-16, ANTAGONIST, also known as 1-O-Hexadecyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(N,N,N-trimethyl)-hexanolamine, is a compound that acts as an antagonist to the Platelet Activating Factor (PAF). It is a phospholipid derivative that can inhibit the effects of PAF, which is a potent mediator involved in various physiological and pathological processes, such as inflammation, immune response, and blood clotting.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
PLATELET ACTIVATING FACTOR-16, ANTAGONIST is used as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of various conditions associated with PAF-mediated processes. Its application is particularly relevant in the management of inflammatory diseases, allergies, and cardiovascular disorders, where PAF plays a significant role in the pathogenesis.
Used in Research Applications:
In the field of research, PLATELET ACTIVATING FACTOR-16, ANTAGONIST serves as a valuable tool for studying the role of PAF in various biological processes. It can be used to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying PAF-induced effects and to identify potential targets for the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
Used in Drug Development:
PLATELET ACTIVATING FACTOR-16, ANTAGONIST can be employed in the development of new drugs targeting PAF-mediated pathways. Its antagonistic properties make it a promising candidate for the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals aimed at treating diseases and conditions where PAF plays a crucial role.

Biological Activity

hexanolamino paf c-16 is a paf analog with paf agonist/antagonist properties.platelet activating factor (paf; c16), a phospholipid mediator of inflammation, is secreted by several cell types including arterial endothelial cells, and can activate polymorphonuclear leucocytes and monocytes via specific cell surface receptors. paf also stimulates the production of active oxygen species by human monocyte - derived macrophages [1].hexanolamino paf c-16, a paf analog with an increased inter-ionic distance in the polar head group, showed a greater potency in macrophages than platelets. in human monocyte-derived macrophages, hexanolamino paf c-16 was an antagonist and specifically inhibited the generation of superoxide ion (02-) and hydrogen peroxide (h202) in response to paf [1]. in both rabbit platelets and guinea-pig macrophages, hexanolamino paf c-16 acted as a partial agonist [2].

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 137566-83-7 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,3,7,5,6 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 137566-83:
(8*1)+(7*3)+(6*7)+(5*5)+(4*6)+(3*6)+(2*8)+(1*3)=157
157 % 10 = 7
So 137566-83-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
