It has been investigated for sublimation through thermogravimetry and XRD, with a determined sublimation temperature range of 100-160°C in the presence of inert gas helium. Bis(2,4-pentanedionato-O,O')palladium(II) possesses unique chemical properties and has found various applications across different industries.

Uses

1. Used in Anticancer Applications:
Bis(2,4-pentanedionato-O,O')palladium(II) is used as an active anticancer agent for its growth inhibitory effects, which are more potent than those of cisplatin in several cancer cells. Treatment with this compound inhibits H460 cells, making it a promising candidate for cancer treatment.
2. Used in Catalyst Applications:
Bis(2,4-pentanedionato-O,O')palladium(II) is used as a catalyst for various organic transformations. It has been employed in the following studies:
a. In the preparation of monodisperse CuPd alloy nanoparticles (NPs) using a typical high-temperature organic solution phase protocol.
b. In the preparation of [(NHC)Pd(acac)L] complexes (where L=Me, NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene), which efficiently catalyze the Heck reaction of activated aryl bromides.
c. As a catalyst in the decarboxylative cross-coupling of arylcarboxylic acids with aryl halides, facilitating important chemical reactions in the synthesis of various compounds.

Purification Methods

It can be recrystallised from *C6H6/pet ether and sublimes in vacuo. It is soluble in heptane, *C6H6 (1.2% at 20o, 2.2 at 40o), toluene (0.56% at 20o, 1.4% at 40o) and acetylacetone (1.2% at 20o, 0.05% at 40o).
