A phosphatidylethanolamine (1) containing two 9-thiastearyl groups was prepared by chemical synthesis. This compound and its methylsulfonium derivative were found to be inhibitors of the cyclopropane fatty acid synthase from the parasitic protozoan Crithidia fasciculata.
