17760-13-3 Usage
General Description
Trichloromethyltrichlorosilane is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CCl3SiCl3. It consists of a silicon atom bonded to three chlorine atoms and a methyl group. TRICHLOROMETHYLTRICHLOROSILANE is commonly used as an intermediate in the production of silicone polymers and resins. Trichloromethyltrichlorosilane is also utilized as a crosslinking agent in the manufacturing of silicone rubber and as a surface modifier in the treatment of glass and other substrates. Additionally, it can be employed as a reagent in organic synthesis, particularly in the formation of carbon-silicon bonds. However, trichloromethyltrichlorosilane is highly reactive and should be handled with care due to its potential to form toxic and corrosive byproducts when in contact with water or air.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 17760-13-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,7,6 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17760-13:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*6)+(3*0)+(2*1)+(1*3)=113
113 % 10 = 3
So 17760-13-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Thermal chlorination of methyltrichlorosilane
Voronkov,Stankevich,Kukharev,Abzaeva
, p. 800 - 803 (2007/10/03)
The procedure for thermal chlorination of methyltrichlorosilane to chloromethyltrichlorosilane in a circulation flow system was developed. The yield of ClCH2SiCl3 was studied as influenced by the reaction temperature and the reactant ratio.
