General Description

1,4-DIBROMO-1,1,2,2-TETRAFLUOROBUTANE is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C4H6Br2F4. It is a colorless, volatile liquid that is used as a refrigerant and in the production of plastics and rubber. 1,4-DIBROMO-1,1,2,2-TETRAFLUOROBUTANE is also used as a solvent and as a blowing agent for foams. It is considered to be a halogenated hydrocarbon, meaning it contains both bromine and fluorine atoms. Due to its chemical composition, 1,4-DIBROMO-1,1,2,2-TETRAFLUOROBUTANE is considered to be a potential environmental and health hazard, and its use and production are regulated in many countries.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 18599-20-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,8,5,9 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 18599-20:
(7*1)+(6*8)+(5*5)+(4*9)+(3*9)+(2*2)+(1*0)=147
147 % 10 = 7
So 18599-20-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

UV-INITIATED ADDITION OF HALOGENOALKANES TO OLEFINS

KrF laser induced telomerization of bromides with olefins. Part 2. BrC2F4Br and BrC2F4C2H4Br with C2H4 and C2F4

Linyang,Fuss,Kompa

, p. 874 - 882 (2007/10/02)

We investigated the photochemical insertion of one to three olefin units into a CBr bond of two dibromides in gas phase. Unexpected high quantum yields (up to 30) were found in the system BrC2F4Br + C2H4 for the product BrC2F4C4H8C2F4Br and some others. Therefore they cannot be radical combination products, but must arise from chain propagation. To explain their formation, accumulation of C2F4 must be assumed. The addition of ethylene to a radical can be reversed by Br atoms. This reaction strongly influences the product spectrum. Synthesis of BrC2F4C4H8C2F8Br would be economic by the laser method. The preparation of BrC2H4C2F4C2H4Br was also much improved over previous methods.
