Uses

Used in Fuel Industry:
Tetradecyl methacrylate is used as a pour point depressant for diesel oil. Its long hydrocarbon chain structure allows it to interact with the paraffin wax crystals in diesel oil, reducing their size and preventing them from forming large, cohesive structures. This results in a lower pour point for the diesel oil, allowing it to flow more easily at lower temperatures and improving its overall performance in cold weather conditions.

The invention relates to a lubricant, specifically to a preparation method for tetradecyl methylacrylate. The preparation method for the tetradecyl methylacrylate comprises the preparation step of weighing the following raw materials for subsequent usage: methacrylic acid, which is a product from the Tianjin Yongda chemical reagent development center; acrylamide and an analytical reagent, which are products from the Tianjin Fuchen chemical reagent plant; hydroquinone, N-N-dimethylformamide (DMF), absolute ethyl alcohol and an analytical reagent, which are products from the Beijing chemical plant; and p-toluenesulfonic acid, tetradecanol and an analytical reagent. The tetradecyl methylacrylate prepared by using the method provided by the invention has the following advantages: through addition of a pour point depressant AA, physical and chemical properties of three base oils are basically unchanged; and as mentioned in the specification, AA can significantly reduce the condensation point and the viscosity of the base oils, so the pour point depressant AA can effectively improve the low-temperature fluidity and the viscosity-temperature characteristic of the base oils, and has littleeffect on other properties of the base oils.
