Preparation

Poly(vinyl butyral) may be prepared by dissolving poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) in a mixture of water and methanol and adding butyraldehyde and a small amount of sulfuric acid as a condensation agent and heating to 60°-70°C. The best quality poly(vinyl butyral) is stabilized by slurrying in alkali in order to prevent viscosity changes and discolorization. Urea is also used to stabilize the pH to about 1.5. Some processes involve saponifying poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) to PVA with aqueous hydrochloric acid; butyraldehyde is then added directly. The resulting poly(vinyl butyral) solution is neutralized and the product precipitated with water, washed, and dried.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 27360-07-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,7,3,6 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 27360-07:
(7*2)+(6*7)+(5*3)+(4*6)+(3*0)+(2*0)+(1*7)=102
102 % 10 = 2
So 27360-07-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
