Description
CYANIDIN-3-GALACTOSIDE CHLORIDE, also known as Ideain chloride, is a glycoside derivative of cyanidin, which belongs to the class of anthocyanin chlorides. It is characterized by its black solid appearance and is a primary reference substance with assigned absolute purity. CYANIDIN-3-GALACTOSIDE CHLORIDE is a potent inhibitor of the epidermal growth-factor receptor and is responsible for the red pigment in fruits and berries. It exhibits antioxidant properties, protecting cells against damage from superoxide dismutase (SOD).
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
CYANIDIN-3-GALACTOSIDE CHLORIDE is used as an anti-cancer agent for its potent inhibitory effects on the epidermal growth-factor receptor. It is particularly useful in comparative analysis of anti-EGF activity in cancer cells, making it a valuable tool in the development of cancer treatments.
Used in Food Industry:
As an anthocyanin, CYANIDIN-3-GALACTOSIDE CHLORIDE is used as a natural colorant for the red pigment in fruits and berries. Its antioxidant properties also contribute to the preservation and enhancement of the nutritional value of these products.
Used in Cosmetic Industry:
Due to its antioxidant properties, CYANIDIN-3-GALACTOSIDE CHLORIDE can be used as an ingredient in cosmetic products to protect the skin from oxidative stress and promote overall skin health.
Used in Research and Development:
CYANIDIN-3-GALACTOSIDE CHLORIDE serves as a primary reference substance in various research and development applications, particularly in the study of the epidermal growth-factor receptor and its role in cancer cell growth. Its assigned absolute purity makes it an ideal candidate for comparative analyses and the development of new therapeutic strategies.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 27661-36-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,7,6,6 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 27661-36:
(7*2)+(6*7)+(5*6)+(4*6)+(3*1)+(2*3)+(1*6)=125
125 % 10 = 5
So 27661-36-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Thermodynamics and kinetics of cyanidin 3-glucoside and caffeine copigments
Limon, Piedad M.,Gavara, Raquel,Pina, Fernando
, p. 5245 - 5251 (2013/07/27)
The multiequilibrium system of reactions of cyanidin 3-glucoside at acidic and mildly acidic pH values was studied in the presence of caffeine as a copigment. The thermodynamic and kinetic constants were determined using the so-called direct and reverse pH jump experiments that were followed by conventional UV-vis spectroscopy or stopped flow coupled to a UV-vis detector, depending on the rate of the monitored process. Compared with that of free anthocyanin, the copigmentation with caffeine extends the domain of the flavylium cation up to less acidic pH values, while in a moderately acidic medium, the quinoidal base becomes more stabilized. As a consequence, the hydration to give the colorless hemiketal is difficult over the entire range of pH values. At pH 1, two adducts were found for the flavylium cation-caffeine interaction, with stoichiometries of 1:1 and 1:2 and association constants of 161 M-1 (K1) and 21 M-1 (K2), respectively.
