1-Chlorodifluoromethyl- and 1-trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-methylbenzimidazoles and benzotriazoles were obtained by chlorination of the corresponding methyl 1-azoledithiocarboxylates and subsequent fluorination of the resulting 1-trichloromethyl derivatives.
