3387-65-3 Usage
Description
Methylthioadenosine sulfoxide, also known as 5'-Deoxy-5'-(methylthio)adenosine Bromide, is a derivative of Ademethionine (A280350) and is a potential design inhibitor of human S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Methylthioadenosine sulfoxide is used as a potential design inhibitor for human S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase, an enzyme involved in the regulation of various cellular processes. Its inhibition can have therapeutic applications in the development of drugs targeting specific diseases and conditions.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 3387-65-3 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 3,3,8 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 3387-65:
(6*3)+(5*3)+(4*8)+(3*7)+(2*6)+(1*5)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 3387-65-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and evaluation of analogues of S-adenosyl-L-methionine, as inhibitors of the E. coli cyclopropane fatty acid synthase
Guerard, Christine,Breard, Maud,Courtois, Fabienne,Drujon, Thierry,Ploux, Olivier
, p. 1661 - 1664 (2004)
Analogues of S-adenosyl-L-methionine were synthesized and evaluated as inhibitors of the purified E. coli cyclopropane fatty acid synthase, a model for M. tuberculosis cyclopropane synthases that are potential targets for antituberculous drugs. Our results show that the presence of the adenosine moiety, in the inhibitor, is required for strong binding, but that the sulfonium charge is less important. The best inhibitors found were S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and its sulfoxides.
