REACTIONS WITH ETHYL-4,5,6,7-TETRAHYDRO-2-ISOTHIOCYANATO-1-BENZOTHIOPHENE-3-CARBOXYLATE. SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS WITH POTENTIAL HYPNOTIC ACTIVITY
Ghorab, M. M.,Heiba, H. I.,El-Gawish, Mona A.
, p. 85 - 90 (2007/10/03)
Ethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2-isothiocyanato-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate (2), prepared from ethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2-amino-1-benzothiophene-3-carboxylate (1) by the thiophosgene method, was converted with nucleophiles into benzothienopyrimidine derivatives (3-5) and (7) either directly or through thiourethane (6a).The tricyclic, benzothienopyrimidine system (8) and (9) were obtained either from the isothiocyanate (2) or the thiourethane (6a), while the tetracyclic systems, triazolothienopyrimidines (10,11); tetrazolothienopyrimidines (12,13) and tetrazepino derivative (14), were obtained from 2,3,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-3-amino-2-hydrazino-1-benzothienopyrimidine-4(3H)-one (9).Preliminary pharmacological screening revealed that some of the new compounds exhibited hypnotic activity. - Key words: Thienopyrimidines; hypnotic activity

Thieno-fused(1,3)-thiazine, 4-imino-2-thioxo-2,4-dihydro-1H-thieno(1,3)-thiazine (2) has been directly synthesised by the reaction of o-aminonitrile (1a) with carbon disulphide.Thiazine (2) on reaction with primary aromatic amines leads to thieno2
Synthesis of 3 substituted thieno[2,3 d]pyrimidin 4(3H) one 2 mercaptoacetic acids and their ethyl esters for pharmacological screening

, p. 660 - 664 (2007/10/08)
3 Substituted thieno[2,3 d]pyrimidin 4(3H) one 2 mercaptoacetic acids and their ethyl esters were synthesized from 2 mercaptothieno[2,3 d]pyrimidin 4 (3H) ones, which were obtained by cyclization of thienylthioureas in acidic medium. Analgesic, anti inflammatory, and anticonvulsant activities were found in some of these compounds. Significant antimicrobial activity was exhibited by thienylthioureas.
