4680-78-8 Usage
Description
ACID GREEN 3, also known as Guinea Green B, is a synthetic dye with a green color. It is a water-soluble dye that is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in non-polar solvents. It has a molecular formula of C21H16N2Na2O7S2 and a molecular weight of 488.48 g/mol.
Uses
Used in Textile Industry:
ACID GREEN 3 is used as a dye for silk and wool fabrics due to its ability to bind to the proteins in these fibers, providing a vibrant and long-lasting color.
Used in Biotechnology Industry:
ACID GREEN 3 is used as a biological stain for staining various biological samples, such as proteins, nucleic acids, and cells. It is commonly used in histology, cytology, and microbiology for staining tissue sections, cell cultures, and bacterial colonies.
Used in Pharmaceutical Research:
ACID GREEN 3 is used as a pharmacophore compound to study its inhibitory action on papillomavirus type 16 E6 protein. This research can help in the development of new drugs and therapies for the treatment of papillomavirus infections and related diseases.
Preparation
Benzaldehyde (1 Moore) and 3-(Ethyl(phenyl)amino)methyl)benzenesulfonic acid (2 Moore) condensation, will product oxidation, and then translate into sodium salt.
Air & Water Reactions
Very soluble in water. Forms a green solution, which becomes brownish-yellow by addition of HCl, and blackish-green with NaOH.
Reactivity Profile
ACID GREEN 3 neutralizes acids in exothermic reactions to form salts plus water. May be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. May generate hydrogen, a flammable gas, in combination with strong reducing agents such as hydrides.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 4680-78-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 4,6,8 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 4680-78:
(6*4)+(5*6)+(4*8)+(3*0)+(2*7)+(1*8)=108
108 % 10 = 8
So 4680-78-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
