501684-93-1 Usage

Description

NS 1738 is a positive allosteric modulator of the α7-containing neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs). It selectively enhances the current flowing through these receptors when applied in the presence of ACh, with an EC50 of 3.4 μM. NS 1738 is modestly brain-penetrant and has been shown to counteract (-)-scopolamine-induced deficits in acquisition of a water-maze learning task in rats, as well as improve performance in the rat social recognition test. It is used to selectively evaluate the role of α7-containing nAChRs in signaling pathways.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Research:
NS 1738 is used as a selective a7 nAchR allosteric modulator for evaluating the role of α7-containing nAChRs in various signaling pathways. This application is particularly relevant in the study of neurological disorders and cognitive functions, as it helps researchers understand the underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
Used in Cognitive Function Studies:
NS 1738 is used as a cognitive enhancer in preclinical research, as it has been shown to counteract (-)-scopolamine-induced deficits in acquisition of a water-maze learning task in rats. This suggests that NS 1738 may have potential applications in the development of treatments for cognitive impairments and related conditions.
Used in Social Recognition Research:
NS 1738 is used as a modulator of social recognition in rats, as it has been demonstrated to improve performance in the rat social recognition test. This application may be relevant for studying the neural basis of social behavior and the potential therapeutic use of NS 1738 in conditions involving social recognition deficits, such as autism spectrum disorders.

Biological Activity

Selective positive allosteric modulator of α 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. Exhibits no substantial activity for α 4 β 2, α 3 β 3 and α 1-containing receptors. Displays cognitive-enhancing properties in vivo .

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 501684-93-1 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 5,0,1,6,8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 501684-93:
(8*5)+(7*0)+(6*1)+(5*6)+(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*9)+(1*3)=141
141 % 10 = 1
So 501684-93-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
