General Description

2H-Cyclopenta[b]furan-2-one, hexahydro-5-hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)- also known as 5-Hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethylene)hydropentalenone, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C7H10O3. This organic compound belongs to the family of gamma butyrolactones, which are fused ring systems consisting of a gamma-lactone ring and a keto group on an adjacent carbon. Due to the presence of hydroxy groups, it exhibits hydrophilic properties.
