5332-52-5 Usage

Description

1-Undecanethiol (UDT) is a liquid with a distinct unpleasant odor, characterized by a melting point of -3°C and a boiling point of 259.5°C. It has a density of 0.841 g cm-3 at 25°C and is classified as a liquid in terms of its chemical properties.

Uses

1. Used in Immunological Applications:
1-Undecanethiol is used as a functionalizing agent for polycarbonate filter membranes in immunological experiments. This functionalization can further be utilized in the fabrication of plasmonic flow-through biosensors, enhancing their sensitivity and performance in detecting specific biomarkers.
2. Used in Colloidal Gold Enhanced Immunoassay:
UDT is employed in the formation of self-assembled monolayers (SAM) on colloidal gold, which is used to enhance the sensitivity and specificity of immunoassays. This application takes advantage of the strong affinity between UDT and gold surfaces, improving the detection capabilities of these assays.
3. Used in Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) Applications:
1-Undecanethiol is used to form self-assembled monolayers (SAM) on QCM gold electrodes, acting as adhesive intermediate layers. This application improves the stability and sensitivity of QCM sensors, making them more effective in detecting changes in mass due to molecular interactions.

Reactivity Profile

1-UNDECANETHIOL is incompatible with oxidizing agents, strong acids and strong bases, alkali metals, and nitric acid. Can react with water, steam or acids to produce toxic and flammable vapors. Reacts violently with powerful oxidizing agents such as calcium hypochlorite(Ca(OCl)2) to generate SOx. Reacts with hydrides to form flammable H2 gas; reacts with halogenated hydrocarbons to yield HX. Reacts exothermically with aldehydes. Emits toxic compounds of sulfur when when heated to decomposition.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 5332-52-5 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 5,3,3 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 5332-52:
(6*5)+(5*3)+(4*3)+(3*2)+(2*5)+(1*2)=75
75 % 10 = 5
So 5332-52-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A novel tin-free procedure for alkyl radical reactions

Benati, Luisa,Leardini, Rino,Minozzi, Matteo,Nanni, Daniele,Scialpi, Rosanna,Spagnolo, Piero,Strazzari, Samantha,Zanardi, Giuseppe

, p. 3598 - 3601 (2007/10/03)

Desulfuration as a source of alkyl radicals: The addition of alkylsulfanyl radicals to isocyanides gives the corresponding alkyl radicals. This methodology can replace the usual tin-mediated radical procedures and allows for the generation of tertiary, secondary, and even nonstabilized primary radicals that can be used efficiently in reductive defunctionalizations and intermolecular additions to electron-rich olefins (see scheme).
