General Description

D-(3,4-Dihydroxy) A-phenylglycine, also known as DOPA, is a chemical compound that has a phenyl ring and a carboxyl group attached to a glycine molecule. It is a key precursor in the biosynthesis of certain neurotransmitters, including dopamine and norepinephrine. DOPA is commonly used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, as it can cross the blood-brain barrier and be converted into dopamine.
