59678-46-5 Usage
Description
ENTEROCIN is a potent antibiotic that exhibits broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Although its exact mechanism of action remains unknown, it is known to act synergistically with other antibiotics such as streptomycin and chloramphenicol. As a small molecular weight secondary metabolite, it is distinct from bacterial proteins isolated from Enterococci, which are generically referred to as "enterocins."
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
ENTEROCIN is used as an antibiotic for treating bacterial infections due to its broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Used in Research and Development:
ENTEROCIN is used as a subject of study in the field of genetics and biosynthesis, as its production and mechanisms have been extensively investigated.
Used in Combination Therapy:
ENTEROCIN is used in combination with other antibiotics like streptomycin and chloramphenicol to enhance their efficacy and potentially overcome antibiotic resistance in certain bacterial strains.
Biological Activity
enterocin is an antibiotic isolated from cultures of two strains of streptomyces, streptomyces candidus var. enterostaticus ws-8096 and variant m-127 of streptomyces viridochromogenes. this antibiotic shows activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, especially against the enterobacteriaceae [1]. enterocin was named for its strong activity against enterobacteriaceae.the elementary analysis and mass spectroscopic measurement suggested that the molecular formula was c72h20o10. the ultraviolet absorption gave two maximal peaks at 250 nm and 283 nm in methanol [1]. the mechanism of enterocin is unknown. enterocin acts synergistically with streptomycin and chloramphenicol. the genetics of enterocin biosynthesis has been extensively investigated. enterocin is a small molecular weight secondary metabolite [1].

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 59678-46-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,9,6,7 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 59678-46:
(7*5)+(6*9)+(5*6)+(4*7)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*6)=185
185 % 10 = 5
So 59678-46-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
