62265-68-3 Usage
Description
Quinfamide is an amebicide, a type of medication specifically designed to target and eliminate amoebas, particularly the pathogenic E. histolytica. It is indicated for the one-day treatment of subacute or chronic intestinal amebiasis, a parasitic infection that can cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms and complications. Quinfamide works by inhibiting the propagation of E. histolytica trophozoites, rendering them incapable of multiplying and thus helping to clear the infection.
Uses
Used in Tropical Medicine:
Quinfamide is used as an anti-amebic agent for the treatment of tropical parasitic infections, specifically targeting E. histolytica, the causative agent of amebiasis. It is particularly effective in treating subacute or chronic intestinal amebiasis, providing a one-day treatment option to help alleviate symptoms and prevent complications associated with the infection.
Used in Gastroenterology:
In the field of gastroenterology, Quinfamide serves as a valuable treatment for patients suffering from intestinal amebiasis. Its ability to inhibit the propagation of E. histolytica trophozoites makes it a useful tool in managing and eradicating the infection, thereby reducing the risk of severe gastrointestinal complications and improving patient outcomes.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 62265-68-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,2,2,6 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 62265-68:
(7*6)+(6*2)+(5*2)+(4*6)+(3*5)+(2*6)+(1*8)=123
123 % 10 = 3
So 62265-68-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Compounds useful as antiamebic agents are 1-(Ac1)-5-R-6-(Ac2 O)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines (I), where Ac1 is haloacetyl, dihaloacetyl or trihaloacetyl with halo being chloro or bromo, R is hydrogen, chloro or bromo, and Ac2 is hydrogen, Ac1, alkanoyl having from one to sixteen carbon atoms, benzoyl, 2(or 3)-thenoyl, 2(or 3)-furoyl or N-(lower-alkyl)carbamoyl. Said compounds are prepared: by reacting 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-quinolinol with an acyl halide of the formula Ac1 -halogen to produce 1-(Ac1)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-quinolinol having formula I where R and Ac2 are each hydrogen, Ac1 is defined as in formula I and halide is chloride or bromide; by reacting said 1-(Ac1)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-quinolinol with a chlorinating or brominating agent to produce the corresponding 1-(Ac1)-5-chloro(or bromo)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-quinolinol where Ac1 is defined as in claim 1; and, by reacting 1-(Ac1)-5-R-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-quinolinol with an acylating agent providing Ac2 to produce 1-(Ac1)-5-R-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-(Ac2 O)quinoline having formula I where R is hydrogen, chloro or bromo, Ac1 is defined as in formula I and Ac2 is other than hydrogen as defined in formula I.
