Description
Sodium 2-[3-(4-sulfonato-o-tolyliminio)-6-o-toluidino-3H-xanthen-9-yl]benzoate is a dye compound that exhibits a range of colors from brilliant pink to brilliant yellow red. It is available in the form of big red powder and is slightly soluble in xylene for yellow red shades. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it produces a brilliant green color, which turns into red flocks upon dilution. The dye undergoes alkaline reduction to form a leuco compound with a red light purple shade, while acid reduction results in an orange leuco compound.
