1-(3-methyl-2,5-dioxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)urea, also known as MPC, is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of pyrrole-based urea derivatives. It is a small molecule inhibitor of the enzyme TNF-α converting enzyme (TACE) and has been studied for its potential therapeutic applications in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. MPC has been shown to effectively inhibit TACE-mediated shedding of TNF-α, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, and has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic effects in preclinical studies.
