ALCIAN BLUE 8GX is a large conjugated dye molecule that consists of a central copper-containing phthalocyanine ring linked to four isothiouronium groups via thioether bonds. The isothiouronium groups give ALCIAN BLUE 8GX its cationic nature due to their moderately strong basic properties. Initially used in the dyeing of textile fibers, it is now commonly recommended for histological techniques.
