8052-16-2 Usage
Description
Actinomycin C is an antibiotic compound produced by Streptomyces chrysomallus, characterized by its ability to intercalate DNA. This unique property allows it to exert a potent effect on various biological processes, making it a valuable substance in both medical and research applications.
Uses
Used in Antineoplastic Applications:
Actinomycin C is used as an antineoplastic agent for its ability to bind and intercalate DNA, which inhibits the replication and transcription processes in cancer cells. This action leads to the suppression of tumor growth and makes it a valuable tool in cancer treatment.
Used in Medical Research:
Actinomycin C is used as a research tool in molecular biology and genetics for its DNA intercalating properties. It aids scientists in studying the structure, function, and interactions of DNA molecules, contributing to a deeper understanding of genetic mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Actinomycin C is used as an antibiotic in the pharmaceutical industry for its potent antimicrobial activity. It is particularly effective against certain bacteria, helping to combat infections and contributing to the development of new antimicrobial drugs.
Purification Methods
(A commercial mixture of Actinomycin C1 5%, C2 30% and C3 65% is available). Actinomycin C1 (native) crystallises from EtOAc as red crystals, is soluble in CHCl3, *C6H6 and Me2CO, and has m 246-247o(dec), [] 20D -328o (0.22, MeOH) and max 443nm ( 25,000) and 240nm ( 34,000). Actinomycin C2 (native) crystallises as red needles from EtOAc and has m 244-246o(dec), [] D -325o (c 0.2, MeOH), max 443nm ( 25,300) and 240nm ( 33,400). Actinomycin C3 (native) recrystallises from cyclohexane, or *C6H6/MeOH/cyclohexane as red needles with m 238-241o (dec), [] D -321o (c 0.2, MeOH), max 443nm ( 25,000) and 240nm ( 33,300). [Brockman & Lackner, Chem Ber 101 1312 1968.] Itis light sensitive.[Beilstein 27 III/IV 9642.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 8052-16-2 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 8,0,5 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 8052-16:
(6*8)+(5*0)+(4*5)+(3*2)+(2*1)+(1*6)=82
82 % 10 = 2
So 8052-16-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
