Description
Prochlorperazine maleate, also known as 2-chloro-10-[3-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)propyl]phenothiazinemaleate (Compazine), is a member of the piperazine subgroup of phenothiazines. It is characterized by high-milligram antipsychotic potency, a high prevalence of extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS), and low sedative and autonomic effects. Prochlorperazine is more potent on a milligram basis than its alkylamino counterpart, chlorpromazine. Due to the high prevalence of EPS, it is primarily used for its antiemetic effect rather than its antipsychotic effect.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Prochlorperazine maleate is used as an antipsychotic agent for its high potency and effectiveness in treating various mental health conditions.
Used in Oncology:
Prochlorperazine maleate is used to increase tumor cell antigen presentation, enhancing the efficacy of anti-tumor monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in cancer treatment.
Used in Migraine Treatment:
Prochlorperazine maleate is used as an antimigraine agent, helping to alleviate the symptoms and frequency of migraine headaches.
Used in Antiemetic Therapy:
Prochlorperazine maleate is used as an antiemetic agent, primarily due to its high potency and effectiveness in preventing and treating nausea and vomiting.
Biological Activity
D 2 receptor antagonist. Also interacts with 5-HT 3 and nAChR. Displays antipsychotic, antispasmodic, antiemetic and antinociceptive activity in vivo .
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phenothiazine antipsychotic; D2 dopamine receptor antagonist; antispasmodic

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 84-02-6 includes 5 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 2 digits, 8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 84-02:
(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*0)+(1*2)=46
46 % 10 = 6
So 84-02-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
