Usage

General Description

6-Chloro-9-(3-C-methyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl)-9H-purine, also known as cladribine, is a synthetic purine nucleoside analog that exhibits antineoplastic and immunosuppressive properties. It is commonly used for the treatment of hairy cell leukemia, a rare type of cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow. Cladribine works by interfering with DNA synthesis and repair in cancer cells, ultimately leading to their death. Additionally, it has been shown to suppress the activity of certain immune cells, making it useful in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Cladribine is administered as a intravenous infusion or subcutaneous injection, and is generally well-tolerated with manageable side effects. However, it may increase the risk of infections and should be used with caution in individuals with pre-existing immunosuppression.
