9001-15-4 Usage

Description

EC 2.7.3.2, also known as creatine kinase (CK), is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transfer of a phosphate group between creatine and ATP (adenosine triphosphate). It plays a crucial role in energy metabolism and is involved in the maintenance of ATP levels in cells, particularly in muscle tissues.
Used in Neuroscience Research:
EC 2.7.3.2 is used as a tool for measuring phosphocreatine levels in isolated hippocampal neurons from rat brains. This application helps researchers understand the role of phosphocreatine in neuronal function and energy metabolism.
Used in Muscle Physiology Studies:
In the muscle physiology field, EC 2.7.3.2 is used for tATPase assay of myofibrillar protein isolated from rabbit. This assay evaluates the kinetic influence of bound creatine kinase (CK) on Ca2+-activated myosin ATPase, providing insights into the enzyme's role in muscle contraction and energy transfer.
Used in Protein Analysis:
EC 2.7.3.2 is also used for the enzymatic hydrolysis of protein samples during tryptophan estimation by pyrolysis gas chromatography. This application aids in the accurate quantification of tryptophan, an essential amino acid, in various protein samples.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Creatine kinase plays a key role in the energy metabolism of cells with intermittently high and fluctuating energy requirements. Examples of such cells include cardiac or skeletal muscle cells and neural tissues of brain and retina. The enzyme catalyzes the reversible transfer of the phosphoryl group from phosphorylcreatine to ADP, in order to generate ATP. The molecular mass of the protein is found to be approximately 80,000 Da. It is made up of 2 subunits, each having a molecular weight of 40,000 ± 2000. The lighter subunit is present in larger amounts.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 9001-15-4 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,0 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9001-15:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*1)+(2*1)+(1*5)=64
64 % 10 = 4
So 9001-15-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
