Description
ACRYLONITRILE/BUTADIENE COPOLYMER, also known as Nitrile-Butadiene Rubber (NBR), is a synthetic rubber copolymer that combines the properties of acrylonitrile and butadiene. It is known for its high oil and temperature resistance, flexibility at low temperatures, and resistance to heat, abrasion, water, and gas permeation.
Uses
Used in Automotive Industry:
ACRYLONITRILE/BUTADIENE COPOLYMER is used as fuel lines, hoses, and automobile parts for its oil and temperature resistance, as well as its flexibility at low temperatures.
Used in Manufacturing Industry:
ACRYLONITRILE/BUTADIENE COPOLYMER is used as structural adhesives for its strong bonding properties and resistance to various environmental factors.
Used in Protective Clothing:
ACRYLONITRILE/BUTADIENE COPOLYMER is used as oil-resistant clothing, gloves, and shoe soles and heels for its resistance to oil, heat, and abrasion.
Used in Protective Equipment:
Gloves made of nitrile rubber are used as an alternative to neoprene gloves for their comparable resistance to organic solvents, particularly in applications involving II-hexane and phenol.
Chemical Properties:
ACRYLONITRILE/BUTADIENE COPOLYMER's flexibility at very low temperatures can be obtained with lower acrylonitrile content, although this may sacrifice some oil resistance. Low-temperature flexibility for some applications can be modified by plasticizers or blends. NBR is frequently plasticized with organic phosphate, phthalic ester, or dibenzyl ether to enhance its properties.
Production Methods
NBR is produced by polymerization of acrylonitrile and
butadiene in varying proportions. The basic steps are the
emulsion polymerization techniques used for styrene–
butadiene. The process yields both “hot” and “cold” rubber.
Hot rubbers are branched and contain some cross-linked gel.
The more linear cold rubbers are slightly cross-linked by
incorporating divinyl benzene to improve processability and
compression set resistance.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 9003-18-3 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 9,0,0 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 9003-18:
(6*9)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*3)+(2*1)+(1*8)=73
73 % 10 = 3
So 9003-18-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
