General Description
2-(benzyloxy)-5-methylpyridine is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C14H13NO. It is a pale yellow liquid with a benzene-like odor and is commonly used as a building block in organic synthesis. 2-(benzyloxy)-5-methylpyridine is a derivative of pyridine with a benzyloxy group attached to the 2-position and a methyl group at the 5-position. It has potential applications in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and various other industries. However, its specific uses and properties may vary depending on its intended application and the specific conditions under which it is used.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 92028-39-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 9,2,0,2 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 92028-39:
(7*9)+(6*2)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*8)+(2*3)+(1*9)=122
122 % 10 = 2
So 92028-39-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

An efficient and inexpensive LiI-promoted O- to N-alkyl migration of 2-benzyloxy-, 2-allyloxy-, and 2-propargyloxypyridines and heterocycles is reported. The reaction produces the corresponding N-alkyl 2-pyridones and analogues under green, solvent-free conditions in good to excellent yields (30 examples, 20-97% yield). This method has been shown to be intermolecular and requires heat and lithium cation to occur.
