922-28-1 Usage
General Description
3,4-Dimethylheptane is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C9H20. It is a saturated hydrocarbon belonging to the alkane family, with a straight chain of seven carbon atoms and two methyl groups attached at the 3rd and 4th positions. This colorless liquid is primarily used as a solvent and as a part of the fuel mixture for internal combustion engines. Due to its low reactivity and stability, 3,4-dimethylheptane is also used as a reference compound in chemical analysis and as a standard in gas chromatography. It has a boiling point of 118°C and is considered to be relatively non-toxic, with no known harmful effects on human health or the environment when handled and used properly.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 922-28-1 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 9,2 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 922-28:
(5*9)+(4*2)+(3*2)+(2*2)+(1*8)=71
71 % 10 = 1
So 922-28-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Paragraph 0097, (2015/06/03)
The present invention provides methods for preparing a C6-C10 alkane, and mixture thereof. The methods include forming a reaction mixture containing an angelica lactone dimer, a catalyst, and a hydrogen source under conditions sufficient to reduce the angelica lactone dimer, thereby preparing the alkane. The methods can be used to prepare branched alkanes useful for fuels. Methods for preparing an angelica lactone, methods for preparing an angelica lactone dimer, and methods for reducing a lactone to an alkane are also described.
