Barium fluoride Specification

The IUPAC name of this chemical is barium(2+) difluoride. With the CAS registry number 7787-32-8 and EINECS 232-108-0, it is also named as Baryum fluorure. The product's categories are Industrial / Fine Chemicals; Inorganic Chemicals; Inorganics; Barium Salts; Barium Metal and Ceramic Science; Inorganic Salts; Synthetic Reagents; Crystal Grade Inorganics. It is colourless odourless crystals which is slightly soluble in hot water, soluble in acid and ammonium chloride. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of F. So the storage environment should be well-ventilated, low-temperature and dry. Keep Barium fluoride separate from raw materials of food.

The other characteristics of this product can be summarized as: (1)#H bond acceptors: 0; (2)#H bond donors: 0; (3)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 0; (4)Polar Surface Area: 0 Å2; (5)Enthalpy of Vaporization: 25.54 kJ/mol; (6)Vapour Pressure: 922 mmHg at 25°C; (7)Exact Mass: 175.902047; (8)MonoIsotopic Mass: 175.902047; (9)Topological Polar Surface Area: 0; (10)Heavy Atom Count: 3; (11)Formal Charge: 0; (12)Complexity: 2.8.

Preparation of Barium fluoride: Mixing the barium carbonate and water to get the slurry. Then adding hydrofluoric acid to react. Controlling the reaction end point Ph value until unchanging. Finally, after filtration, drying, grinding, we can get the products. BaCO3+2HF→BaF2+CO2↑+H2O

Uses of Barium fluoride: It can be used as a material to make optical components such as lenses. It is also used in windows for infrared spectroscopy, in particular in the field of fuel oil analysis. What's more, it is used as a preopacifying agent and in enamel and glazing frits production. The other use is in the production of welding agents (an additive to some fluxes, a component of coatings for welding rods and in welding powders).

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
It is harmful by inhalation and if swallowed. What's more, after contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap-suds.
