Beryllium oxide Specification

The Beryllium oxide, with the CAS registry number 1304-56-9 and EINECS registry number 215-133-1, has the IUPAC name of oxoberyllium. And the molecular formula of this chemical is BeO. It is a kind of white crystals, and belongs to the following product categories: Beryllium; BerylliumMetal and Ceramic Science; Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry; Chemical Synthesis; Oxides.

The physical properties of Beryllium oxide are as following: (1)#H bond acceptors: 1; (2)#H bond donors: 0; (3)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 0; (4)Polar Surface Area: 17.07 Å2.

Preparation of Beryllium oxide: It can be prepared by calcining (roasting) beryllium carbonate, dehydrating beryllium hydroxide or igniting the metal:
BeCO3→ BeO + CO2
Be(OH)2 → BeO + H2O
2 Be + O2→ 2 BeO

Uses of Beryllium oxide: It is used in rocket engines. And because its good thermal conductivity, it is also used many high-performance semiconductor parts for applications such as radio equipment. It is used as a filler in some thermal interface materials too. In addition, it is used as a structural ceramic for high-performance microwave devices, vacuum tubes, magnetrons, and gas lasers.

You should be cautious while dealing with this chemical. It irritates eyes, respiratory system and skin. It is also toxic if swallowed, and very toxic by inhalation. In addition, it may cause sensitization by skin contact, and has danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure through inhalation. Therefore, you had better take the following instructions: Avoid exposure - obtain special instruction before use; In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible).

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
(1)SMILES: [Be]=O
(2)InChI: InChI=1/Be.O/rBeO/c1-2
(3)InChIKey: LTPBRCUWZOMYOC-SRAGPBHZAE
