2. Avoid exposure to oxides. Soluble in hot water. Dissolved in dilute acid. Insoluble in alcohol and acetone. The aqueous solution is acidic, and the alumina hydroxide gel precipitates after hydrolysis. Loss of crystalline water by weathering in dry air. At 64.5℃, 9 crystalline waters were lost, and at 200℃, 12 crystalline waters were lost and turned into white spongy anhydrous substance. It has little solubility in cold water (0℃ 5.7g/100g H2O) and great solubility in hot water (100℃ 357g/100g H2O), and is almost insoluble in ethanol. Boiling a dilute water solution will precipitate a basic salt. It begins to weather at 34℃, becomes monohydrate at 60℃, and dissolves in crystalline water at 92℃. When the temperature reaches 120℃, the crystalline water is lost and the white powder of calcined alum is insoluble in water.
