Stability
Soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. Heating an aqueous solution with a dilute inorganic acid hydrolyzes it into phosphoric acid. Acid sodium pyrophosphate has slight hygroscopicity and forms six crystalline hydrates after absorbing water. When heated above 220 ℃, it decomposes to produce sodium metaphosphate.
