The copper(I) and silver(I) complexes of 2-amino-5-methyl-1,3,4- thiadiazole (MATZ = L) CuL3X (X = Cl, ClO4), CuL1.5 Br, CuLI, AgLX (X = ClO4, CF3COO, 12SO4), AgL2.5X (X = BF4, NO3) and 2,5-dimethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (DTZ = L′) CuL′0.5X (X = Cl, I), CuL′Br, AgL′X (X = ClO4, CF3COO), AgL′0.5 X (X = NO3, BF4(H2O)) have been prepared and studied by conductometric and i.r. methods. MATZ is coordinated through the aminic nitrogen atom and in some complexes also through one or two ring-nitrogen atoms. DTZ is coordinated to the copper(I) atom only through the ring-nitrogen atom, while in its silver(I) complexes also the ring-sulphur atom seems to participate in the coordination.
