Complexes of the type NiL2*XH2O and adducts of the type NiL2Bn*XH2O (LH = N-formyl-L-phenylalanylglycine and N-benzoyl-DL-alanylglycine; B = imidazole, 2-methylimidazole and 1,2-dimethylimidazole; n = 2; and X = 0-2) have been prepared and characterised by physical and spectroscopic techniques.Carboxylate group of the dipeptide coordinates in a bidentate manner.Electronic spectra of the complexes show three absorption bands and their magnetic moment values lie in the range 3.0-3.25 B.M.Molar conductance values show non-electrolytic behaviour of the nickel(II) complexes.All the complexes have been assigned six-coordinated structures.
