A few bridgehead nitrogen containing heterocycles such as 2-aryl-5-oxo-5H-pyridopyrimidothiadiazoles/oxadiazoles (5 and 6) and 9-aryl-5-oxo-5H-pyridopyrimidothiazoles (8) have been prepared by the reaction of 2-chloropyridine-3-carbonyl chloride with various 2-amino-oxa/thiadiazoles and thiazoles respectively.Condensed heterocycles such as 2-aryl-6-hydroxy-1,3,4-thiadiazolobenzimidazoles (10) and 2-aryl-6-hydroxythiazolobenzimidazoles (13) have also been prepared from the condensation of aminoheterocycles with p-benzoquinone.The structures of these compounds have been established by elemental analyses and spectral data.
