110-09-8 Usage
General Description
Diethylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether, also known as MBE, is a colorless, hydrophilic chemical compound used primarily in industrial applications. This ether-type solvent is known for its moderate evaporation rate, high resistance to oxidation, and stability in extreme temperatures. It’s typically used as a solvent in coatings, inks, cleaners, and brake fluids due to its ability to dissolve a wide variety of substances. MBE is also utilized in textile dying and printing because of its low toxicity and high boiling point. Despite its versatile uses, it's advisable to handle this chemical compound with care, as overexposure may lead to irritation in the respiratory system and skin.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 110-09-8 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,1 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 110-09:
(5*1)+(4*1)+(3*0)+(2*0)+(1*9)=18
18 % 10 = 8
So 110-09-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Method for Producing Glycol Tert-Butyl Ether
-
Page/Page column 10-11, (2017/08/02)
A method is provided for producing glycol tert-butyl ether (GTBE). Diol and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) are used. With the help of an acidic cationic exchange resin catalyst, GTBE are produced through transetherification. The present invention not only produces GTBE but also obtains highly-selective GTBE products. No by-products of glycol di-tert-butyl ether (GDtBE) and olefin are generated. The present invention effectively avoids the traditional complex procedure for separating GDtBE.
