The reaction of diallyl sulfone and di(1-propenyl) sulfone with benzylamine, amine, ammonia and sodium sulfide leads to intramolecular cyclization with the formation of 1-benzyl-2,6-dimethyl-4,1-thiazane 4,4-dioxide, 1--2,6-dimethyl-4,1-thiazane 4,4-dioxide, 2,6-dimethyl-4,1-thiazane 4,4-dioxide, and 2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dithiane 4,4-dioxide respectively. An exception is the reaction of the sulfones with cyclohexylamine, which gives di sulfone instead of the expected N-substituted thiazane.
