Page/Page column 41; 51-52, (2011/02/24)
Compounds which exhibit antiviral activity, particularly against influenza virus, and methods of making and using there of are described herein. In one embodiment, the compounds are heterocyclic amides containing piperazine and isozazole rings and optionally substituted with one or more substituents. The compounds can be formulated with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients to form compositions suitable for enteralor parenteral administration. The compounds are preferably used to treat or prevent Influenza Ainfections, such as H1N1, H2N2, H3N2, H5N1, H7N7, H1N2, H9N2, H7N2, H7N3, and H10N7.

The present invention relates to compounds of formula I wherein R1, R2, R3, X, X1, and n are as defined in the specification and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These compounds are good inhibitors of the glycine transporter 1 (GlyT-1) for the treatment CNS disorders, such as schizophrenia, cognitive impairment, and Alzheimer's disease.
Studies in Potential Filaricides: Part XV - Synthesis of 1-Acyl/Aryl-4-substituted-piperazines as Diethylcarbamazine Analogs

, p. 650 - 654 (2007/10/02)
1-Acyl-4-substituted-piperazines (4-29) have been prepared starting from 1-benzylpiperazine while 1-aryl-4-aroylpiperazines (30-44) have been obtained from the corresponding 1-arylpiperazines.None of the compounds shows any significant filaricidal activity against Litomosoides carinii in cotton rats and cestodicial activity against Hymenolepis nana in mice.
