Usage

General Description

N,N'-diphenyl-1,3-phenylenediamine is a chemical compound commonly used as an antioxidant in rubber and other materials. It is a white crystalline solid that is insoluble in water and has a melting point of 140-144°C. N₁,N₁-diphenyl-1,3-phenylenediamine is added to rubber products to prevent degradation by heat, oxygen, and ozone, extending the lifespan and performance of the material. It also has applications in the production of dyes and in the manufacturing of hair dyes and colors. However, N,N'-diphenyl-1,3-phenylenediamine has been identified as a potential skin sensitizer and irritant, and may also be toxic to aquatic organisms. Therefore, proper handling and disposal procedures should be followed when working with this compound.
