12604-56-7 Usage

Description

Ferrotitanium is an alloy composed principally of iron and titanium, used to add titanium to steel. It is often made from titanium scrap and comes in various forms such as lumps, crushed, or screened. The alloy is known for its great affinity for O2 and N2 at temperatures above 800°C, making it an effective purifying agent for iron and steel.

Uses

Used in Steel Industry:
Ferrotitanium is used as a purifying agent for iron and steel due to its high affinity for oxygen and nitrogen at elevated temperatures. It acts as a cleanser, with little or no titanium remaining in the steel unless the percentage is gauged to leave a residue.
Used in Ladle Additions:
Ferrotitanium is used for ladle additions to clean steel, ensuring the removal of impurities and enhancing the quality of the final product.
Used in High-Chromium Steels:
Low-carbon ferrotitanium is used as a deoxidizer and as a carbide stabilizer in high-chromium steels, improving their properties and performance.
Used in Alloy Steels:
Graphidox, a type of ferrotitanium, improves the fluidity of steel, increases machinability, and adds a small amount of titanium to increase the yield strength.
Used in Controlling Alloy Steels:
Grainal alloys, which are used to control alloy steels, have various compositions and include ferrotitanium as a key component.
Used in High-Grade Steels and Nonferrous Alloys:
MnTi, a ferrotitanium alloy, is used as a deoxidizer for high-grade steels and for nonferrous alloys, enhancing their quality and performance.
Used in Hard Nonferrous Alloys:
NiTi, another ferrotitanium alloy, is used for hard nonferrous alloys, providing increased strength and durability.
Used in Adding Columbium to Steel:
Columbium, when combined with ferrotitanium, is used for adding columbium to steel, improving its properties and performance.
Used in Preventing Chilling of Molten Metal:
Ferrotitanium has an exothermic reaction that prevents chilling of the molten metal, ensuring a smooth and efficient manufacturing process.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 12604-56-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,2,6,0 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 12604-56:
(7*1)+(6*2)+(5*6)+(4*0)+(3*4)+(2*5)+(1*6)=77
77 % 10 = 7
So 12604-56-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
