127-67-3 Usage

Description

Pilocarpidine is an alkaloid found in the leaves of Pilocarpus Jaborandi, a plant native to South America. It is a viscous oil that decomposes upon attempted distillation and exhibits optical activity with a specific rotation of [α]20D + 81.3° (H2O), which decreases to +35.2° upon the addition of alkali. Pilocarpidine forms well-crystallized salts, including the hydrochloride, nitrate, aurichloride, and platinichloride tetrahydrate. When heated with alkalies, its salts evolve dimethylamine, and upon treatment with alcoholic sodium methoxide, it yields isopilocarpidine, which can be further modified to form isopilocarpine metho-salts.

Uses

1. Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Pilocarpidine is used as a pharmaceutical agent for its potential therapeutic applications. The alkaloid and its derivatives may be utilized in the development of new drugs due to their unique chemical properties and interactions with biopolymers and macromolecules.
2. Used in Research and Development:
Pilocarpidine serves as a valuable compound in the field of research and development, particularly in the study of alkaloids, their properties, and potential applications in medicine and other industries. Its unique characteristics, such as optical activity and the ability to form well-crystallized salts, make it an interesting subject for further investigation.
3. Used in Chemical Synthesis:
Pilocarpidine can be used as a starting material or intermediate in the synthesis of various chemical compounds, including other alkaloids and pharmaceutical agents. Its reactivity with alkalies and its ability to undergo quaternary methylation make it a versatile compound for chemical synthesis.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 127-67-3 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,2 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 127-67:
(5*1)+(4*2)+(3*7)+(2*6)+(1*7)=53
53 % 10 = 3
So 127-67-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
