128-00-7 Usage
Description
Silver lactate is the silver salt of lactate, a grey powder that serves as an antimicrobial agent in external applications. It is known for its ability to kill bacteria by inhibiting the respiratory pathway, destroying cell walls, impairing essential enzymes, obstructing metabolic activity, and causing DNA stress.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Silver lactate is used as an antimicrobial agent for external applications, particularly in the treatment of thermal burns. It is formulated into creams to provide effective treatment and reduce the risk of infection.
Used in Medical Research:
In medical research, silver lactate is used to decrease superoxide anion formation and chemotaxis in human polymorphonuclear leucocytes, which can help in understanding and managing various inflammatory conditions.
Used in Diagnostic Applications:
Silver lactate staining is applied to the von Kossa reactions for calcium deposits, increasing sensitivity and reducing background noise. This application is valuable in the detection and analysis of calcium-related conditions in medical diagnostics.

Purification Methods
Recrystallise it from H2O by adding EtOH. The solid is collected, washed with EtOH, then Et2O, and dried at 80o to give the dihydrate. It is a white powder soluble in 15 parts of H2O but only slightly soluble in EtOH. Store it in the dark. [Engelhardt & Maddrell Justus Liebigs Ann Chem 63 89 1847, Karrer et al. Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 128-00-7 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,2 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 128-00:
(5*1)+(4*2)+(3*8)+(2*0)+(1*0)=37
37 % 10 = 7
So 128-00-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
